Building Skills Together is a free, parent-focused Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) training program for families of young Autistic children who are currently on a Medicaid waiting list for ABA services.
Developed by Beautiful Minds ABA, PLLC in collaboration with the Autism Society of Texas, this program supports families during the waiting period between diagnosis and the start of formal services, while empowering caregivers with practical strategies they can use every day.

About the Program
Building Skills Together is a structured, supportive ABA-based training program created for families whose children are not yet receiving ABA therapy and are currently on a Medicaid waiting list with any provider.
The program provides a welcoming, respectful, and educational environment where caregivers feel supported, encouraged, and confident while learning how to help their children grow.
Who This Program Is For
- Families of Autistic children between the ages of 3 and 6
- Children who are not currently receiving ABA therapy
- Families on a Medicaid ABA waiting list
- Parents or primary caregivers seeking early support and guidance
Program Structure
- Participants: 10 caregivers and 10 children
- Schedule: Tuesdays, 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM
- Duration: 1 hour per week
- Location: Relate Community Church, 26206 Aldine Westfield Rd, Spring, TX 77373
- Cost: Free
- Visual Supports: Visual schedules provided to all participating families
What Caregivers Will Learn
- Understanding the functions of behavior (why behaviors happen)
- Identifying antecedents and consequences related to challenging behaviors
- Preventative strategies to reduce challenging behaviors
- Calm and effective responses when behaviors occur
- Using choices and positive reinforcement
- Building routines and supporting communication and social skills
- Using task analysis and simple data collection
Program Support & Supervision
Sessions are facilitated by a Master’s-level behavior analyst intern under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), who oversees sessions and provides caregiver coaching.
