At the Autism Society of Texas, we are committed to creating connections and empowering everyone in the Autism community with the resources needed to live fully.
Did you know the Autism community has been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19? Autistic populations are at higher risk of getting sick from COVID, being hospitalized from COVID or dying from COVID.
We aim to promote vaccine education in order to increase vaccination knowledge, confidence, and access in the Autism community.
As part of our mission, The Autism Society of Texas will be hosting Autism-friendly COVID-19 vaccine clinics across Texas. Autism-Friendly clinics can reduce the stress and sensory aspects that may be a barrier to vaccinations. Having calming strategies and an Autism-friendly team and environment can drastically improve outcomes for people with sensory sensitivity and sensory overload. Family members and caregivers may also receive their COVID-19 vaccine during the clinic. This is open to all ages who are eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine and participants may receive their first, second, or booster vaccine. Please visit your city to find out more details.
