This 10 week workshop for upper elementary students (3rd-5th graders) on the Autism spectrum is specifically aimed at “real world” communication. In this class, we will use acting and peer modeling to address social skills for children with Autism such as Initial Social Skills, Skills for Expressing Feelings, and Social Relationship Skills. During the class we will introduce theater vocabulary and concepts and rehearse a play which will be staged in class for family and friends at the end of the course. We will do warm ups at the beginning of the class and take time for sensory breaks throughout.

Skills learned: teamwork, characterization, emotions, projection, diction, stage setting, stage directions, memorization techniques, props, blocking, dress rehearsal
