Flyer: 04.18.2019 Easterseals Advocacy Day flyer
The Easterseals Coalition Serving Texas will host an advocacy day for self-advocates, family members, and community members from across the state who are interested in disability advocacy in Texas. Participants will have the opportunity to meet advocates, receive an advocacy training, and directly participate in the legislative process by making legislative office visits.
During advocacy training participants will receive; an overview of the legislative process, get updates on issues and bills impacting the disability community, and learn tips to effectively share their views with their legislators. In the afternoon, groups of attendees will set out to meet with legislators to advocate for policies that support people with disabilities. Participants will also get the chance to witness the legislature in action by watching the House of Representatives present a resolution in recognition of Easterseals’ important work.
This event is a great opportunity for people to come together to advocate and impact disability policy in Texas!
Parking is available in the Capitol Visitor’s Parking Garage at 1201 San Jacinto. Participants will be able to pick up lunch on their own and there is a cafeteria onsite in the Capitol.
Registration is required, as space is limited. Please register by Friday, April 12th.
