Are you wanting to find resources for your 18+ Adult with special needs.
The Thrive meetings are for parent/caregivers who have Adults of “all abilities” over the age the 18+. Many of us have realized that once our 18+ Adult leaves school it is pretty tough figuring out what is next; how to help them find; happiness, 1st jobs to meaningful employment, housing, friends, and overall help them create “their best independent life” that is in our budget. It really takes something and sometimes it is hard to envision because of the all daily challenges.
We created Thrive:
- As a place where parents and caregivers can go to recharge, find resources and help, and see the next steps needed for the road ahead.
- We have learned from “senior” parents and caregivers that “NOW’ is the time. We need to get in gear because our Adults after school have momentum and we need to carry that momentum into an independent life. There is no blue print for this, no one is meeting with us to hold our hand.
- Good news- we have found many resources- we can make our young adults lives better and our own. If we are thriving, our young adults will also thrive.
Once a month typically last Wed of month. New members are welcome.
It takes a village.
Great News- Bring your adult with you. At the same time as the Thrive meetings, the Autism Society of Texas hosts an Adult Support & Social Skills Group to help all abilities over 18+ build on life and social skills. Great way to make friends and get them out of the house perhaps.
