#AmplifyAustin is almost here! 24 hours of giving to local nonprofits, from 3/8 at 6 pm to 3/9 at 6 pm! Please help Autism Society of Central Texas raise $10,000 to provide our water safety swim program free of charge to participants. Your donation will provide a life saving service here in Central Texas by supporting free swim and water safety lessons for individuals on the autism spectrum.
$20 donation provides materials on swim safety for one student and family
$40 donation covers the cost of a swim instructor for one hour
$100 donation helps pay for pool time during off hours for quieter swim instruction
$250 donation covers the cost of materials and distribution for all ages of autism on wandering, swim safety and swim instruction
$500 donation allows for a small group class on swim safety and specialized autism swim instruction
$1000 covers the program for an entire summer!
Water safety and drowning prevention are essential to the well being of many individuals on the autism spectrum. With sensory challenges and high anxiety, learning to swim can be a huge obstacle for those affected by autism. By providing a safe space with instructors trained to work and understand issues those with autism may face, our goal is to teach individuals with autism to swim or learn basic water safety skills. Produced by Leap to Success and Austin Film Society, the organization managing the studios of Austin Public Access, the event will include live, on-air coverage and entertainment, all hosted by Amanda Tatom of KXAN’s midday show “Studio 512.” The event will be live on Ch. 10 cable access and can also be live-streamed from your computer. https://www.austinpublicaccess.org/watch/schedule/10
