Connections Created: AST April Recap!

April is always our busiest time of year and 2022 was no exception! We started a new cohort of our Path-Building Employment Program, presented to PayPal on Autism Acceptance and Awareness, and our Executive Director was on New York City’s NPR station, WNYC, to discuss women and Autism, and why so many are misdiagnosed(listen here). Our Autistic adult Support and Skills group discussed career interests, cultivating a growth mindset, learning styles, and leadership roles!

We wrapped up the month with a very successful 14th Annual Texas Autism WalkWe had an amazing day at Dreamland in Dripping Springs, making connections with over 500 participants and raising $62,500 to support programs for Autistic children, adults, and their caregivers across the state! This was our first in-person walk in over two years and it was wonderful getting to see everyone come together and create connections while supporting the Texas Autism community. Thank you to everyone who took part in this event, we are so grateful.

Our highlight of the month is a quote from a participant in our Autism Friendly Business Program, which helps businesses and organizations implement inclusive practices to better serve their neurodiverse employees as well as the Autism community; “I learn something every time I’m around this team.”
