Connections Created!: October 2023 Recap

Check out some highlights from October!

We had a great time at Bike to the Beach! Thanks to those who rode for #TeamAutism- Captain-Dr. Jennifer Hamrick& team members Robert Wessels, Gabriela Bahena, Mike Sanders, Cole Camp, Ezrie Camp, Jose Briones, Will Graf, Deborah McDaniel and Kristin McQueen. We also want to give a big thank you to Bill Fick Ford who made a very generous donation to our team! Thanks to Elizabeth from ACES ABA for donating drinks & snacks and working hard to support riders, and to our volunteers Beth and Melanie, we couldn’t have hosted an awesome aid station without you all! Also, thank you to Gnu Santé Creations for the delicious juices & Trader Joe’s – Austin, TX for the tasty bars.

We got to be a part of Austin Voices for Education and Youth’s Hopefest event where we connected with many wonderful families who have a loved one with Autism so we can support them through our groups & Navigating Autism program! The event had around 4,200 attendees and provided everything from eye care, to dental care, to community supports and services, as well as entertainment from area schools.

We also took part in AccessAbility fest in San Antonio which offered resources, opportunities and recreation for individuals facing barriers to their maximum level of independence due to a physical, developmental, sensory and/or mental health challenges.

We presented at Austin Under The Stars Film Festival, which generously donated a portion of their event proceeds to AST. We also joined our partner group, Autism Dad’s Social Club’s Frunk or Treat Event for families!

We were on Fox 7 “Good Day, Austin!” alongside Spark Learning to talk about Putt Fore Autism, hosted by SparkLearning & benefiting Autism Society of Texas!
