From a long time member

Our family has been a member of the Autism Society of Greater Austin for the past 8 or 9 years. What a fabulous organization! I have networked with many other parents and found new friends and families who have adult “kids” like my son. ASGA (as we call it) has sponsored some amazing programs over the years. I always learn and take away useful information from these programs even when I think I already know the subject. ASGA has something for everyone … the website & Yahoo listserve for those who want to keep up with local issues and share information … parent support group meetings for families with younger and older kids … great programs as I have already mentioned … networking opportunities through sponsored events like the wine-tasting … opportunities to help out on committees or with the annual bike ride (coming up) … even ways to advocate through legislative initiatives … opportunities and ideas for activities for your son/daughter with autism like Sensory Friendly films and Hockey Night that work for kids on the high, middle or low end of the Spectrum.

My son has benefited greatly from all this. It’s so helpful to find other parents who understand the issues and can share perspective. We all know it’s a journey and sometimes we need some help along the way.
